Wish You Were Here

by

Alice White

Genre: Fiction

Word Count: 100

Lily had seen too many blazing hot summers in her fifty-five years. A born and bred Texan, she never grew accustomed to the dry heat of her home state.

But Jack got sick in cold climates.

Now that he’d passed on after thirty years of marriage, she finally found courage to relocate.

Flights booked, she stared at the photo on her laptop.

“Alaska, here I come! Wish I was there now.”

In a flash she became part of the image. Ever to live out her life inside the computer.

Be careful what you wish for…You might just get it.

    • Thank you, Nan. I guess she could travel within the computer world, but I don’t think she will ever see the ‘real’ world again. She may even be stuck just in that picture! However, it’s more fun letting you all decide for yourselves what should come to pass πŸ˜‰
Thanks again for your kind comment πŸ™‚

    • I do love the Alice in Wonderland stories. Perhaps it was an unconscious inspiration for this one πŸ™‚ Thank you for your kind comments and for allowing us to be inspired by your photo, Doug πŸ™‚

    • I am considering expanding some of these creepier FF entries into possible short stories or essays. Perhaps one day have enough to release a little anthology of spooky stuff πŸ˜‰ It seems I can do spooky/mystery in a short version, but I know I could not keep track of everything in order to write a novel of those genres. Short is, apparently, IN at the moment though. It seems that a lot of people like shorties that they can pick up and put down without losing anything of a story these days. Perhaps that is the way to go…don’t worry though, Still working on my book too πŸ™‚
